dolla(r)s fo(r) schola(r)s

For the next few weeks I'll be full on thesis mode as the finished product is due the first week of April. And thanks to the good people at Amherst College, I'll be able to finish my joint with some much needed research funds for interviews and travel costs.
Wish me luck as I try to pull a blackademic miracle and get my Arturo Schomberg research steez on and complete a senior project that does my hood the justice and honor it deserves.

Open letter to Maxwell
The run up the Super Tuesday redux, March 4th, has me pretty anxious about the new twists this campaign may take. So, in this spirit, I'm sending out an open letter to one of my favorite singers, Maxwell. Hey, Obama does need to add some new songs to his campaign play list.I'm just going to come on out and say it- Maxwell, I miss you. I miss you and I miss turning on the radio and hearing good music. I ain't talking about the canned tunes that come to us courtesy of the slick productions of Timbo, et, al. I'm talking about, the type of music that takes you back to that high school crush, that family cookout, or drives around Brooklyn in the summer.
I still love Urban Hang Suite. Sumthin' Sumthin' is still my jam. So please stop teasing us, and drop the new album. I'm tired of visiting your Myspace page only to be disappointed that you STILL haven't given us new songs to enjoy while we wait for the B44. Jill Scott and Erykah Badu can't do it their own you know.
And when you finally decide to come back (and I'm hoping its soon), bring D'Angelo with you.

We Are The Ones
will.i.am has done it again and Brother Obama continues to benefit from the free press. They have even managed to slide in muchos Latinos, in a not so discrete move to get them to divorce themselves from the Clintons. I see you John Leguizamo y George Lopez.
If you look beyond Zoe Kravitz's busted haircut the video is inspiring. Even your cynical Brooklyn Sistren has to sit back in wonder at how one US Senator has become such a lightening rod for change.
So please call and email any friends and family you have in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont and use your powers of persuasion to get them to vote Obama on March 4th.
